A one-stop-resource for housing and homelessness information, featuring data and research; information on local initiatives; and a weekly blog offering analysis on local data.

Welcome to the Housing & Homelessness Dashboard

The idea for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Housing & Homelessness Dashboard was born when the Housing Advisory Board of Charlotte-Mecklenburg saw a need to collect and use data on housing instability, homelessness and affordable housing in Charlotte-Mecklenburg in order to inform and guide community efforts around this work. The Housing & Homelessness Dashboard enables the community to be able to use data in order to drive decisions and understand impact.

The Housing & Homelessness Dashboard is designed to engage a variety of stakeholders including elected officials, policy-makers, funders, service providers, people with lived experience, media outlets and the general community. Where possible, context and definitions are included to help all stakeholders understand the data and information presented. Tools will continue to be added to help different stakeholder groups maximize the information presented to meet their respective needs and interests.

Information that is featured on the Housing & Homelessness Dashboard originates from several sources. The progress measures on homelessness, One Number and related by-name lists, and data about Coordinated Entry are generated from the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). Prior to release on the Housing & Homelessness Dashboard, all HUD-required data is reviewed and analyzed by the Data Advisory Committee, which is part of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Continuum of Care. The Racial Equity Analysis Tool includes Point-in-Time Count and U.S. Census data. Additional local data on housing instability and homelessness in Charlotte-Mecklenburg will also continue to be added to the Housing & Homelessness Dashboard.
